Grandpa Kay

Lance's Grandpa Kay passed this week after a long year of cancer and other illnesses.  He will be sorely missed as he was such a good man.  He was loyal to his family, especially his sweet wife, Norma, for over 61 years.  He was dedicated to his work, and a good, honest business owner, and cattle rancher for many years.  My favorite thing about this sweet man was his heart of gold.  He was so kind, giving and loving to all around him.  Lance was a "step" grandson to him.  And I have to say that I always, as well as Lance, felt like we were truly apart of his family.  They went out of their way to call, or send us cards - for every occasion.  They celebrated graduations with us.  They were concerned when complications arose with both labors of our children.  And they just loved us as any grandparent would.  I admire Grandpa Kay so much (and of course, Grandma Norma too), and am so thankful to be truly apart of his family.

We had a big family celebration Dec. 2010 for their 60th wedding anniversary.  Everyone from the family was there!  I was able to photograph them in their home, and in front of their beautiful view of the mountains.  The party could not have been timed better.  I am so glad I had the chance to photograph them that day.  If we had waited, Grandpa Kay would have been too sick.
